AI and the workforce: how can organisations get it right?

AI is marking a seismic shift in workplaces across the UK.

While some organisations have embraced the changes this new technology has brought, many others have responded with caution, reflecting anxieties about job security and the potential for AI to encroach upon human roles. While progress is increasingly being made to maximise the benefits of AI in organisations, examples of successful implementation often sit in isolation within departments, with no overriding strategy established between leadership, IT and HR.

The fact remains that the global workforce structure and the nature of work is, and always has been, constantly changing – with AI simply serving as a component of this continuing evolution. Society is only in the early stages of this technological shift and although leaders may be grappling with an uncertain future, they can still influence it and maximise the advantages for business, staff, and society by how they respond to this opportunity.

The D Group’s recent roundtable event, held in partnership with Orgvue, provoked some insightful thinking into how workforces should prepare to restructure in the age of AI. With takeaways from this compelling discussion in mind, we have taken the conversation further to outline the ways in which AI is currently reshaping the workforce and what organisations can do to maximise the opportunity it brings for the future.
