Jacqueline Rock, now Chief Commercial Officer at Test & Trace, is well known to the D Group as she was previously the Chief Commercial Officer in the Defence Infrastructure Organisation. Jacqui has brought the same passion and enthusiasm to this role as she did to the DIO. Prior to joining the Civil Service, she spent 30 years in Industry, and this has stood her in good stead for her current challenges. The Test and Trace team has set up an organisation the size of Tesco from scratch in just a few months. Testing has increased fivefold and will soon be achieving three million tests a week with 90% of people receiving their results the next day. Twenty-three million people have downloaded the NHS App and by the end of this week 5 million people will have been vaccinated (at time of recording). She admitted that the organisation is still in crisis mode but with the focus now very much on how we help the country exit lockdown. There will also be a new National Institute for Health Protection being set up in April.
