Lord Deben and Alex Sobel MP talked us through the journey to reaching Net Zero by 2050 which will be upon us all too quickly. The 6th Carbon Budget has recently been published which lays out our journey in detail and both speakers emphasised that we must now get on with delivering this plan in a timely manner and to budget. The cost is only 1% of GDP and if we seize the Green Industrial Revolution as we did the last Industrial Revolution, we will be able to retain our competitive advantage and current position on the world stage. COP26 presents us with a great opportunity to not only demonstrate global leadership but also ensure that British technology is being utilised around the world.
