Andy Proctor, PNT Strategy Technical Lead at Cabinet Office has been involved with PNT and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for 25 years, both in Government and in Industry. PNT is an enabling technology that has over 173 use cases, excluding Defence. Over two years ago the National Security Adviser said that we need a strategy and coherent control across Government. The strategy has just been published but there is still no PNT architecture framework and more importantly a decision on who the SRO is in Government. Once this has been decided, a budget can be allocated and we should see the direction that we need. The point was also made that the Government needs assistance from Business to select the right SRO.
