Irregular Migration: Innovation for solving the Global Challenge
Event details
A wide ranging, in confidence discussion to engender fresh thinking to solve the UK current challenges. The Home office is seeking to elicit any views on whether the UK can deal with Asylum and Irregular Migration in a completely different way and transform the current system
At a fundamental level, the Home Office are looking at new ways to create a system that not only brings the numbers down, and costs less but critically holds the trust and confidence of the public. To that end the first topic of the workshop will be building trust and confidence and we would very much like to hear from members who have expertise in
- human behaviour and insight,
- how incentives could work,
- what could be done to improve public perception.
In addition the Home Office would like to engender views and fresh ideas on the three main elements of the immigration system:
- Input to the system: how can this be made more ordered, target and reduce organised crime and international collaboration. Experience from members that have experience of targeting crime and fraud, as well as experience with movement of people and goods/shipping would be welcome.
- Throughput: how can this be more efficient, maintain integrity, and cost less. Ideas are particularly invited on the use of data and tech, including large language models, machine learning and AI.
- Output: creating pathways for integration into the UK for those that have permission to remain, or pathways to removal for those that do not.
