For this interactive roundtable,  we are pleased to welcome Dominic Herrington as our key speaker.  Dominic was appointed Executive Director for Transforming Delivery Directorate in June 2022. This role sits within His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, which is an Executive Agency sponsored by the Ministry of Justice. Dominic is responsible for developing operating models; leading programmes of workforce transformation and resource management; and developing digital / technological plans.  

The current HMPPS is facing multiple challenges – overcrowding and sentencing reform are reducing the demand on prison spaces, and this will place additional effort on the probation service.  But these are current challenges – it is further recognised that the profile required for both prison officers and probation officers for 10 years into the future will be quite different to today as the service transforms itself into the service of the future.  This session will explore the skills and values required in the future

Also attending this roundtable will be Louise Alexander – People Director HMPPS and HR Business Partnering MoJ, Sarah Coccia, Chief Operating Officer Prisons HMPPS and Kim Thornden-Edwards, Chief Probation Officer HMPPS.

• How can HMPPS identify the skills required in the future

• How can HMPPS set up an organisation capable of recruiting, managing and retaining such a workforce

• How can HMPPS develop the capacity suitable to deal with the demands of the future.
