Event details

Her Excellency Susanne Baumann has served as Germany's Ambassador to the United Kingdom since September 2025.

She was State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office from 2021-25, and before that was Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control and Head of the Directorate-General for International Order, the United Nations and Arms Control at the Federal Foreign Office.

As well as a significant career in disarmament, Baumann has worked in the German Ministry of Defence and Foreign Office, on overseas postings to Malaysia, Kosovo and Cambodia among others. Before entering the Higher Foreign Service she studied Law in Bonn, and also has a degree in Public Administration.
