Sir Philip Barton is Chair of Strategy International's Advisory Board.  He is a Senior Adviser at SC Strategy and a Visiting Professor in Public Policy at the LSE.  He also on the Advisory Council of the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Sir Philip was head of the UK Diplomatic Service and led the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office through one of its most complex periods, overseeing 17,000 staff in 170 countries and a £13bn budget. A specialist in South Asia, he has served as British High Commissioner to both India and Pakistan and played a central role in developing the UK’s strategic partnership with India.

With nearly 40 years’ experience across national security, diplomacy and organisational leadership, his focus is on helping leaders and institutions navigate complexity and volatility to deliver lasting impact.  Known for his calm authority and collaborative approach, he brings global insight and deep understanding of geopolitical and commercial dynamics across the world.
