Jude Terry joined the Royal Navy in 1997 after graduating from Dundee University with a BSc (Hons) in Anatomical Sciences. Her First Stage Career included various staff and operational roles, such as deployments to the Indian Ocean, Arabian Gulf, Caribbean, and Far East aboard HMS SCOTT and HMS OCEAN. Once she transitioned to her Second Stage Career, she completed ACSC 15 and earned an MA in Defence Studies. Whilst at PJHQ, Jude worked as MA to CJO, and planned for the end of HERRICK and GRITROCK. Following this she also contributed to the Integrated Change Programme (ICP) in Navy Command.
Jude served as Commander Logistics in HMS OCEAN and participated in deployments on BALTOPS and CTF50 in the Arabian Gulf, after which she became the Logistics Branch Manager at NCHQ, handling recruitment, retention, training, and personnel management. Promoted to Captain in 2018, she joined SJFHQ and later Finance and Military Capability (FMC) as Assistant Head Joint Plans. She played a significant role in delivering the Integrated Review, Spending Review, and budgetary cycles.
In December 2020, Jude was promoted to Commodore and served as Deputy Director People Delivery in NCHQ. In January 2022, she became the Director People and Training and Naval Secretary. Aside from her naval career, she is a trustee of the Medusa Trust, an Honorary Freeman of the Company of HR Professionals and an Ambassador for Girl Guiding SW. Jude enjoys Jersey's beach, cliffs, and outdoor activities, along with travel, reading, live music, running (plodding), and spending time with loved ones.
